Entrance to Nain

Entrance to Nain via the islands
There is a cluster of islands on the way into Nain harbour, Ding likened it to the Swedish archeapelago. Icebergs were never far away, so you have to keep an careful eye out when you're on watch. The big one's are not the main problem, you can see those quite easily (stating the blooming obvious !!! Though not in dull light, the blighters blend into the background then !!!).
The main problem are the "growlers".......these are pieces of berg that have broken or melted off the main one's. They can be anything up to 5 square meters at the surface..........in a swell they are sometimes hard to identify, as they do roll over as well. Obviously, if there is only a small area showing at the surface , you still have 9/10 below.............plenty to rip the side out of the boat. :-(
Some excellent names to the islands at the moment, Fox, Webb, Dog, Lopsided, Teapot..................apparently named as the inhabitants drank more tea per capita than anywhere else in the world......................nah nah nah.........only kidding it's uninhabited !!! :-)
Beautiful run through the islands today...........very little wind though, so motoring a fair bit.
Looking forward to seeing Nain, it's the most Northerly town in Labrador.
Last chance for food, fuel and wifi until Clyde Inlet / Pond Inlet on Baffin island.

Beautiful day, but no wind

The main channel / entrance to Nain from the south. We are now getting very little charted depths / channels logged on the charts.......
