Coronation Fjord

Off we go to have a look at Coronation Fjord , about 30 miles away.
Beautiful sunny morning..............calm waters........no wind.
The rock formations are just amazing.
It's a very strange aspect of Baffin Island, you think the shoreline is fairly close...............it's so difficult to judge distances here............you think you're a few hundred metres away from something and you check on the chart and it's a mile away.
Mind you we have found the charts to be at least 400m in most of this region.......hey, it's remote and little used.........ploughing through land on numerous occasions !!!! :-)
The glacier is just brilliant, we decide to stay overnight and anchored about 1000 m from the carving face. In the night a large lump of ice wedged itself on the anchor chain, then about 2 hours later it shifted and rattled down the side of the boat.............wow.....that woke us up !!!!

Looking back to Qkik

Some amazing rock formations

A local Inuit boat they use for fishing / sealing

Entering the fjord

The snout of the glacier

This is our anchorage for the night..............that piece of berg hit us in the night

Bridgedale socks......the best in the WORLD.................we all wear them...............not a cold foot on the boat !!!!

To give  you an idea of the scale
