11/7
Arrive in Bellingham, i get priority position at the exit ramp as i have to catch the train......nice one Maggie !!!
As it turns out, the Amtrak train was late, apparently nothing new.
Anyway, we got away about 09:15. I got a seat and settled down for the 2 hour journey.
Opposite me, 4 guys arranged themselves around a table, soon all had their laptops / tablets on the table, all going full swing. Turned out they had all been to a Computer conference in Bellingham.............joy !!
Fields came & went, as did houses, towns and bridges. It was quite neat running along the coast.
Unusually no major dramas ensued..................strange !!! ;-)
We soon as we started to see the outskirts of Seattle, around 10 minutes to the railway station, the quartet shut down their electronic devices and all started taliking to each other in a very raucous fashion. It was so funny after the prolonged silence !!!
We arrive in Seattle. I walked into the station building................wooow..............really spectatcular, tiling and an elaborate ceiling, pillars..............weird, the rest of the station was quite boring. It transpires the building was refurbed recently and they found this beautiful ceiling hidden under a suspended ceiling put in duting the 1960's, everyone had forgotten about it.
I only had about 3 hours to wait for my ferry from Pier 69, so i walked through the dockside area. Had a swift Guinness & a sandwich in an Irish bar and then got into the queue for the HSC ferry (High Speed Catamarran).
Again, no major dramas........................what's going on ????........;-)
The ferry arrived into Victoria about 17:00, Andrea was there to meet me, what a star.
Belligham station
Grupen fuhrer station mistress !!!
Amtrak train arrives..............late...as usual.
The dynamic foursome.......................;-)
Views on the way to Seattle
Seattle station
The beautiful internals of Seattle station
General views on my walk to Pier 69
A plaza with a photo shoot going on...............loads of photographers.............no idea who it was.
Clearly a wedding in progress
Gawd knows what these guys were doing....some sort of song & dance routine
Another blooming wedding
Good pint of Guiness in here
