Glaciers Galore & Hobo Bay

1/7/15
We are now making our way towards the larger glaciers, Harriman, Surprise, Cascade, Coxe and Barry, so we head off through a passage to the North of Esther island and anchor for the night in Fishermans Cove. The weather is fantastic and we have a chillax and sup a few beers and catch a few rays.................stunning..............what a lucky guy i am !!!
Mind you we also had a couple of jobs to tick off, so we got stuck into those, one of the covers had got knocked of the port forward porthole so i refixed that into position, while Steve & Terje washed the boat.

2/7
Into Barry and Harriman Fjords today................stunning ..................incredible how the glaciers are retreating though. (We spoke to a couple of kayakers in Hobo Bay, they said that the Harriman had retreated about 3 miles since they started coming here in 2005 !!!!)
Fantastic scenery though......................judge for yourself..................Glaciers Galore !!!
We move out of Harriman and Barry and head south..........................unbelievable number of Otters........they are rafted up together lying on their backs , eating and chillaxing..........ha ha ha..amazing to see...............

We anchor in Hobo Bay for the night, eventually deciding to stay for a couple of days, there are some good walks here, though we have to have the Bear spray and fog horns with us at all times.

3/7
The dingy is lowered and we head to the beach. It's hard to tell how you get off the beach to start with, but, we eventually find a path. The ground is very boggy, i'm glad i've got my wellies on.
We try to find the pickup truck we saw on the beach on the way in .
Next minute there it is...............
There is a path behind the truck which turns into a "corduroy road" ( logs are laid next to each other across the track to make a road in the boggy ground, pretty effective too).
Walk up to the old Granite Mill......on the way back we meet 2 kayakers from the beach, we exchange pleasantries and then make our way back to the boat.........

WE have so many photos of this area........................here's a sample
